Endeavours of a Woman

Looking out into the rosacea sky
admiring the rashes of pinks and purples
open windows with trees and leaves of elegant flowers,
soon to find their way in the shadows of the spring moon

counting the minutes,
day in, day out, sunrise to sunset
tying my hair back
to apply cold cream and a drying oil in sporadic dots constellated around my face
awaiting a new night of romance, alone
with melted red lipstick and glowing skin

waking up in the mundane mornings with routines to maintain
months of coffee stains ringed around the same diameter as the last on the bedside table
waking up to a new day
every movement thoughtful,
seemingly calculated but just ritualistic

I watch all the gestures in people
all sunsets and sunrises out of this grand window
I have a passion of understanding it all but a patience in knowing it may never happen
I have a strong desire to be presented appropriately,
to care for all
to be cared for by some
and to be loved by many,
